Cia Criatividança

Direction & Choreography by Davi Rodrigues

Cia Criatividança (or CRIA) was a landmark contemporary dance company established in Brasília that expanded its artistic influence to several vibrant cities across Brazil. Over its impressive 16-year journey, CRIA became widely recognized for its boldness, innovation, and creative resilience.

Despite operating without permanent rehearsal space or external funding, the company thrived through pure dedication, passion, and artistic collaboration. In its final years, CRIA found a home within the Universidade Católica de Brasília (UCB) under the "Culture on Campus" initiative before concluding its main operations when Davi Rodrigues relocated to Vancouver in 2008.

Social Impact & Community Engagement

Artistic Director Davi Rodrigues introduced a compassionate ticketing model offering a 50% discount to audience members who brought non-perishable food donations. This initiative made dance accessible to diverse audiences while supplying essential provisions to local nursing homes and institutions across Brazil.

International Recognition & Revival

CRIA’s reputation reached international stages with invitations to perform in Bogotá, Colombia, and at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Spain. In 2009, the original company reunited for a special performance of Bãmbula - Uma história de amor, continuing its legacy in Vancouver, Canada.
